Learning to drive
Last year, I finally arranged (take) driving lessons, although my first few lessons weren’t encouraging. I spent a lot of time practising (reverse) in quiet streets and was particularly nervous about (drive) in heavy traffic. At one point, my instructor suggested that I try (adjust) my seat and mirrors because I was sitting too close to the steering wheel.
(park) on a steep hill was the part I found most stressful. My instructor constantly told me (relax) , but that was easier said than done. Whenever I became tired, we stopped (drive) for a few minutes before continuing the lesson. After several more weeks, I finally felt confident enough (book) the test. I failed the first time, but I kept (practise) and eventually managed (pass) on my second attempt.
