Meeting an old friend
An old university friend contacted me recently and suggested (meet) while she was visiting my city. We agreed (have) coffee near the station because neither of us knew the newer parts of town very well. Within five minutes, it felt as though we’d seen each other the previous week. We both regretted (lose) touch after university.
I was surprised (hear) how many of our old friends she was still in contact with. She had considered (move) abroad several years earlier but had eventually stayed close to home. When it started raining, we moved into a café (escape) the weather, and she encouraged me (visit) her next year. (laugh) about some of our old university adventures made me realise how much I’d missed those conversations. We hoped (stay) in touch this time and made a promise (meet) again before another ten years had passed.
